The rules
All race participants must follow the rules and instructions set by the race facilitator (SES). Any person who breaks the rules may be disqualified or refused entry to future events. The race facilitator reserves the right to take legal action in cases of serious breach.
Entry and Eligibility
- Teams: Race participants must be aged 15–75 (as of 11 September 2026). Each team must include at least one member aged 18 or over throughout the event. A parent or guardian must sign for under-18s.
- Solo entrants: Solo participants must be aged 18 or over.
- Participants are asked to raise a minimum of £300 for SES.
- The registration fee is non-transferable and non-refundable.
- Race participants should recognise that training for and taking part in the race involves potentially strenuous physical activity and risk of personal injury. By registering participants confirm that, to the best of their knowledge, they are suitably healthy and physically fit and will complete the race at their own risk.
During the Race
- Race participants must register with the race facilitator on the day of the race - before starting.
- All teams and solo entrants must complete the official route within the time limit of 12 hours.
- The entire race must be completed on foot.
- Race participants are encouraged to wear sensible, weather appropriate footwear and clothing at all times (see race kit list).
- Teams should start, check in and finish together.
- All race participants should follow the Countryside Code – no littering, lighting of fires etc.
Withdrawal from the Race
- Any participant wishing to withdraw from the race should report immediately to the race facilitator.
- In the event that a team's only adult member withdraws or is unable to continue with the race the race facilitator should be notified and the team may be withdrawn from the race.
Event Changes or Cancellation
- The race facilitator may alter, shorten or cancel the event due to bad weather, hazardous conditions, safety concerns or other unavoidable circumstances.
- If cancelled, the event will not be rescheduled and no refunds will be made.
Safety, Conduct and Insurance
- Race participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own health and safety on the day of the race.
- We recommend that all race participants make their own arrangements for personal accident cover.
- Race participants should act responsibly, help others where needed, and enjoy the challenge safely.
- Race participants should be aware that, when registering for the race, they are expected to provide SES with their emergency contact details. It is vital that the person whose emergency contact details are provided are not taking part in the race, are easily contactable and are readily available to drive to the race site if required.
Note: Race participants should understand that photographs and videos may be taken of them during the race and that these may be used on social media and in marketing collateral to publicise future events and the work of the SES. As an indication, we may include such images in advertising, marketing, newsletters, general events and communications.
